Amy Gartley, RN, BSN, MBA, Nurse Executive

Amy GartleyAmy Gartley, RN, BSN, MBA was appointed to the position of Nurse Executive of the Togus VAMC in August 2010.  In this role, she has oversight of nursing and patient care services for Togus Veterans across the state of Maine.

Following completion of a BSN from the University of Maine at Orono, Ms. Gartley began her career at Mid-Maine Medical Center in Waterville, Maine in 1991.  In 1992 she continued her work as a medical-surgical nurse at Kennebec Valley Medical Center in Augusta, Maine.  Four years later, Ms. Gartley began working in the medical endoscopy department, starting as a staff nurse and progressing into the Nurse Manager position as the department grew and expanded.  In 2002, Ms. Gartley became the Director of Surgical Services at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, Maine.  Ms. Gartley obtained an MBA from Thomas College in Waterville, Maine in 2004.  Most recently, prior to coming to Togus, she held the position of Administrative Director, Specialty Care Service overseeing the operations of the emergency department, critical care units, medical-telemetry units, dialysis, and wound care at both the Thayer and Augusta MaineGeneral campuses.

Throughout her career, Ms. Gartley has been involved with many initiatives to improve quality of patient care and patient satisfaction.  These include patient and family centered care programs, infection prevention projects, and medication administration safety initiatives.  Ms. Gartley is honored to be a part of the Togus community and provide leadership in promoting excellent patient care for our Veterans.
